Marketplace is the location of the oldest part of town. Architecturally it was unstructured throughout the whole time of growth and development of Banjaluka. The Marketplace was a part of the urban space with very dense line of craftsmen and merchant stores, as well as the necessary space for Sunday and annual fairs. This empty space, the square, a field for agricultural and craftsmen trade transactions, was in fact the embryo of the town.
