After putting the Banjaluka–Dobrljin railway into operation, three trains a week were operating in both ways. The departure of each train was announced all over the town by a herald (telal). While passing through residential areas the train was met with astonishment of the local communities, since it was a great novelty at the time. The Turkish administration wanted local people to get familiar with the new means of transport, so they allowed free train journeys in the first seven days after opening and putting the railway into operation. << back |
